faculty. For example this on "strategies for active engagement":

Indiana University
Another Big Ten University with a strong reputation for research and
leadership in college teaching and learning, Indiana University offers a
wide variety of valuable materials, many of them as downloadable PDF
references.
Discussion FAQ FINAL.pdf
Dictionary 2008 - Discussion Techniques for Active
Learning.pdf
Middendorf - Learning Student Names.pdf
A Link to their Associate Instructor handbook (of value as an example
for others perhaps, but not of much overt value)
http://www.aiprep.indiana.edu/
Indiana has also developed an effective pamphlet on plagiarism for
students which may be found at
http://www.indiana.edu/~wts/pamphlets/plagiarism.shtml
IU`s entire Teaching Handbook, which offers short helpful entries
covering the whole landscape of teaching tasks and responsibilities, may
be found at
http://www.teaching.iub.edu/handbook_toc.php
Highlights include especially good advice on working with groups such
as the Group Skills Development Pledge
http://www.indiana.edu/~teaching/ourservices/assess/groupskills.shtml
which helps members of groups see specifically the skills needed in their
participation.
Park University
Park University in Missouri offers a host of very practical materials,
many of them with a checklist or immediate, hands-on instructional
character.
For example, the Park site boasts a useful checklist for creating a
course syllabus
http://www.park.edu/cetl/quicktips/syllabus.html
And for those new to the software, a very good video on creating a
poster in PowerPoint
http://www.park.edu/cetl/quicktips/CreatingaPoster.html
The Park site is also good at linking to valuable material available
elsewhere. It contains a good external link selection on Educational
Taxonomy and Learning Objectives
http://www.nwlink.com/~donclark/hrd/bloom.html
http://www.coun.uvic.ca/learning/exams/blooms-taxonomy.html
In addition, the site offers a written summary of a presentation by Ken
Bain on What the Best College Teachers do as well as a link to a video of
a teleconference Q&A conference session with Bain on the subject
http://www.park.edu/cetl/quicktips/bain.html
University of Maryland University
College
Among the recent excellent nominees of new material for the POD
Network/National Teaching & Learning FORUM online library, the University
of Maryland University College offers a wealth of material keyed to online
learning.
Several good PDFs on online teaching and working with small
groups.

The site is also closely linked to the campus center for effective
writing and a robust page on Effective Writing grounded very strongly in
J. L Kinneavy`s,.. A theory of discourse: The aims of discourse.:
(Prentice-Hall, Inc. 1971)
http://www.umuc.edu/ewc/faculty/index.shtml
A subset of the Effective Writing Center`s offerings:

each of these discipline specific areas:

Dusquene University
Dusquene University`s site comes quickly to the point(s). It`s pages
inform faculty about important topics and provide links to further
resources so that they may become not only informed, but educated as well
if their interest carries them that far. For example under "Creating a
Positive Learning Environment," at
http://www.sites.duq.edu/cte/teaching/index.cfm simply finds
links to three additional pages
Understanding Your Students
Recognizing and Assisting Troubled
Students
Preventing and Curtailing Troublesome
Student Behaviors
"Understanding Your Students" presents a quick, cogent overview of the
Kolb and VARK learning models and a summary of the research by Wm Perry
and Mary Belenky, et al on the stages and modes of student learning. The
page begins with links to data on Dusquene students in particular, the
kind of material collected in "engagement" surveys, as well as a link to
the Beloit College annual Mindset List.
In the wake of the Virginia Tech campus massacre tragedy, the links to
detailed material on recognizing and assisting troubled students and on
preventing and curtailing troublesome student behavior are as welcome as
they are, in many ways, sad.
Like other helpful teaching and learning center sites, Dusquene offers
good material on
Syllabus & Course Design
(Heavily influenced by Dee Fink`s 5 principles of good design;
includes a
syllabus checklist)
Teaching Strategies
Assessing Student Learning
Diversity / Multiculturalism
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Writing
to Learn
Classroom Discussions
Each campus has its own "take" on these topics and one can learn a good
bit about current understand of these topics by comparing similar
resources from different sites.
For example, Dusquene takes on the familiar topic of clarity in
explanation via its on acronym - COIK (Clear Only If Known) which says a
lot about prior knowledge and the move from novice to expert
understanding.

Drexel University
For those who may not find topic/essay organization congenial, Barbara
Hornum, the head of Drexel`s teaching and learning center offers a
narrative introduction to teaching on campus
http://www.drexel.edu/provost/dcae/teaching/Teaching%20Tips%20Guide.pdf,
a Teaching Tips Guide for Drexel, but applicable elsewhere too.
The Drexels site (http://www.drexel.edu/provost/dcae/index.html)
also boasts a PowerPoint presentation on Millennial Students

by Dr. Miriam Diamond, of the Collaboration for the Advancement of
College Teaching & Learning
Georgian College (Ontario, Canada)
Finally, for those who like to read while eating lunch, Georgian
College has created an easily digestible publication on college teaching
