ACT is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to measurement and research primarily supportive of individuals making decisions about education, training, and career transitions.

Founded in 1959 and known widely for the ACT Assessment--its college admissions program--ACT has expanded to provide a wide range of programs and services in career and educational planning, financial aid, data management, scholarship and recognition, continuing education, and professional certification and licensure.

ACT serves students and their parents, schools and colleges, nontraditional students, businesses, workers, professional associations, and government agencies.

ACT currently employs over 1,000 full-time and temporary staff. In addition to its headquarters complex in Iowa City, ACT also maintains an office in Washington, D.C., a technology center in Maryland, and a network of regional service offices in various states across the nation.
