Founded in 1918, ACE is the nation's umbrella higher education association dedicated to the belief that equal educational opportunity and a stronger higher education system are essential cornerstones of a democratic society.

With approximately 1,800 members, including accredited, degree-granting colleges and university from all sectors of higher education and other educational and education-related organizations, ACE is a forum for the discussion of major issues relating to higher education and its potential to influence the quality of American life. ACE provides leadership and advocacy in an ever-changing environment by representing the views of the higher education community to policy makers and by offering services to its members.
