Description The purpose of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), founded in 1900, is to improve the legal profession through legal education. To achieve this purpose the association provides numerous services to its member schools, including professional development programs for law school deans, faculty, and staff, an annual meeting, faculty recruitment services, and publications. AALS is an association of law schools and serves as the law teachers' learned society. Membership in the association is conditioned upon meeting membership requirements designed to assure a quality legal education.
