Japan Studies Teaching Seminars Grants These grants, sponsored jointly by the Northeast Asia Council and the Association for Asian Studies, are awarded for seminars to improve teaching or pedagogy related to Japan at college or precollege levels by placing emphasis on quality, teaching methods, and integration with other disciplines. The sponsoring group must identify faculty participants and show how the seminar will contribute to the teaching profession. In addition, the curriculum vita of conductor, budget and abstract of seminar, contributions of the participants, and how results will be made available to the profession are required with the application. Funds may be used for travel and per diem and materials and administrative costs of organizers but not for honoraria or expenditures in currencies other than the US dollar. Application forms are available on the Web site. Restrictions: Funds cannot be used for honoraria, or to reimburse any expenditures incurred in currencies other than the US dollar.
