NSF Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Program This program promotes exemplary improvement in advanced technological education at the national and regional levels through support of curriculum development and program improvement in undergraduate and secondary school education. The approach of the ATE program is to utilize the resources of associate degree-granting institutions in alliances with four-year colleges and universities, secondary schools, business, industry, and government. The ATE program features two components: National/Regional Centers of Excellence for Advanced Technological Education; and ATE projects that focus on one or more aspects of curriculum and instructional materials development, faculty and teacher development, or instrumentation and laboratory improvement. ATE also welcomes proposals for activities that will lead to better understanding of issues in advanced technological education. Refer to Preliminary proposals are due by April 14; full proposals are due by October 14. NSF Brochure 98-45 for program announcement. Requirements: Proposals may be submitted from two-year colleges; two-year college systems; consortia of two-year colleges; other associate degree-granting institutions; and consortia or other appropriate organizations and institutions such as school districts, four-year colleges and universities, professional societies, and nonprofit educational research and development groups that include two-year colleges in leadership roles. Proposals from a formal consortium should be submitted by the consortium; proposals from an informal consortium should be submitted by one member of the consortium.
