Faculty for the Future Program

The General Electric Foundations offer graduate fellowships, forgivable loans, junior faculty grants, and undergraduate research. Grants are also made for undergraduate curriculum development in engineering and business management. More than $1 million a year is allocated for minority engineering and business students scholarships and for student retention programs. Historically black engineering schools also receive support. This special program is expected to run through the year 2000 to increase the number of underrepresented minority and women professors in science, engineering, and business. Requests should be by letter; there are no application forms.

Sample Award(s): National Executive Service Corps (New York, NY)--for its leadership-development program for public-school principals in New York City and to duplicate the program in Lynn, MA, and Schenectady, NY, $105,000 over three years (1996).

Amount of Grant: $20 million total for 10 years
